Just a quick warning -- after the first couple of paragraphs, this long-form post becomes very opinionated. If you don't want to read my opinions, skip this post. The following quote is just a bit of what I explore here:
"When it comes to religion, my short answer is that I'm more spiritual than religious. Religion is, at its heart, a deeply personal issue."
One of my childhood friends shared this story on Facebook. I'm not sure where it originated, but I'm glad I saw it -- it's something that, when I read it, made me reflect back on how thankful I am for the values my parents instilled in me. While I did not have the exact same experience as the young man in this story, the values I learned are similar.
